Smith 4D Mag vs 4D Mag S Snow Goggles

Smith 4D MAG Snow Goggles are some of the most popular on the market. They come with plenty of useful features such as triple-layer moisture wicking foam, ventilation, two lenses, and they’re made in the USA.

Size Difference

Smith 4D Mag goggles are typically suitable for men with average-large faces, whereas 4D Mag S goggles are better for most women, teens and men with smaller than average faces.

Although 4D Mag goggles are described as having a “medium fit”, I personally think they feel more like a medium-large fit. The 4D Mag S goggles on the other hand have a medium-small fit.

  • The frame height is approximately 1 cm (0.4″) more on the 4D Mag compared to the 4D Mag S.
  • The frame width is roughly 2.5 cm (1″) more on the 4D Mag compared to the 4D Mag S.

Here’s a general size guide to help you figure out which are best for you. Keep in mind that these are generalisations, as different face measurement ratios will exist within the same head circumference measurements. This is just to help give you a rough guide.

Head CircumferenceBest Goggle Size
57 cm (22.4”) or moreSmith 4D Mag
55-56 cm (21.7”-22.0”)Either option
54 cm (21.3”) or lessSmith 4D Mag S

If you’re in that middle range, think about whether you prefer the goggle to have a tight fit, or feel bigger on your face.

Things to keep in mind:
– The goggles should be snug across the cheekbones, forehead and nose, with no gaps in the foam.
– The goggles should be snug across the cheekbones, forehead and nose, with no gaps in the foam.

I personally would recommend trying both sizes on in your local store if you are unsure which will be the most suitable for you.

The 4D Mag and 4D Mag S goggles are both also available in the “low bridge fit” option. This design is more comfortable faces with a lower nose bridge and/ or wide and high cheekbones.

Color Options

Smith 4D Mag S goggles do not come in as many color options as the regular 4D Mag goggles, at least at the time of writing.

  • 4D Mag: 15 colorways
  • 4D Mag S: 10 colorways

Most of the color options are different for these goggles, with the 4D Mag S having some more unique and interesting options in my opinion.
